Hi, I'm Heidi, the founder of Nest and bird. I live in Sydney Australia with my husband and two young children. I’m a bit of a shopaholic with a fascination for the art and science of exceptional shopping experiences both on and offline.
Nest and Bird has been a long-held dream of mine, as I have worked in and around retail as a visual merchandiser and graphic designer for the past 20 years.
As a teenager, working in a gift store in a small town on the Central Coast of NSW, I loved the theatre of retail and the way it could transport you to another place and time. Later, as a visual merchandiser for David Jones and The Swatch Group, I honed my skills in creating captivating spaces that tell a story. After that, I transitioned into a career as a graphic designer, but my passion for retail never dimmed.
When I started my family, my focus shifted once again. I craved a new adventure, something beyond the confines of a desk and screen. Parenthood was certainly that! It has been the wildest ride—beautiful, challenging, exhausting, and inspiring, sometimes all at once, but it has grown my heart in ways I never imagined.
In 2020 my daughter became ill and the pandemic hit, during this time I decided to stop working for money and start working at home for sticky kisses instead. As my children have grown and became more independent, I’ve had the time and space for new dreams. And so, Nest and Bird came to be.
Nest and Bird is more than just a business to me—it’s a reflection of my love of thoughtful design and authentic spaces that feel like home. It’s about beautiful products that add warmth and character and a celebration of home.
