Joey Koala Sculpture | Natural Beech Wood

For those who love Australian wildlife, thoughtful design and objects with a story.

Sculpted in natural beech wood, this sweet little koala captures a quiet moment of seated contemplation. Its beautifully simple form makes it just as lovely displayed on a shelf, bedside table or amongst collected treasures as it is hung from its striped grosgrain ribbon for special occasions.

Designed on the Mornington Peninsula by sculptor Joanna Rhodes, the koala was the first piece created for her Joey collection and reflects her longstanding love of animals and classical sculptural forms.

Affectionately described by Joanna as her “little koala buddha”, it’s a small piece with plenty of personality and a thoughtful celebration of one of Australia’s most loved animals.

A charming piece to collect, display or give to someone special.

About the Artist

Mornington Peninsula artist Joanna Rhodes has spent more than a decade creating large scale sculpture, inspired by a lifelong love of animals, classical forms and the natural world.

Her Joey collection grew from a desire to bring that same sculptural approach to smaller, more intimate pieces designed to be enjoyed in everyday life. Moving from large scale works to petite sculptures and jewellery, Joanna captures the personality and character of animals through beautifully considered forms and playful details.

Designed locally on the Mornington Peninsula, her pieces are made to bring a little art, character and joy into the everyday.
