Description

For those who love Australian wildlife, thoughtful design and objects with a story.

Sculpted in natural beech wood, this sweet little platypus captures the wonderfully distinctive character of one of Australia’s most curious native animals. Its softly rounded form makes it a charming sculptural piece for a shelf, bedside table or amongst collected treasures, with a striped grosgrain ribbon allowing it to be hung for special occasions too.

Designed on the Mornington Peninsula by sculptor Joanna Rhodes, the Platypus forms part of her Joey collection of petite pieces inspired by a lifelong love of animals and sculpture.

A charming piece to collect, display or give to someone special.

About the Artist

Mornington Peninsula artist Joanna Rhodes has spent more than a decade creating large scale sculpture, inspired by a lifelong love of animals, classical forms and the natural world.

Her Joey collection grew from a desire to bring that same sculptural approach to smaller, more intimate pieces designed to be enjoyed in everyday life. Moving from large scale works to petite sculptures and jewellery, Joanna captures the personality and character of animals through beautifully considered forms and playful details.

Designed locally on the Mornington Peninsula, her pieces are made to bring a little art, character and joy into the everyday.
